Promoting the Youth, Peace, and Security Agenda
We are advancing the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda. Recognizing the crucial role that young people play in peacebuilding and security, our initiatives aim to empower youth, foster inclusive participation, and build resilient communities. Our comprehensive approach encompasses advocacy, capacity building, and creating platforms for meaningful engagement.
We envision a world where young people are active leaders and stakeholders in peace and security processes. Promoting the YPS agenda, we strive to build environments where youth voices are heard, their rights are protected, and their potential is realized in contributing to sustainable peace and development.
Initiatives
1. Youth Leadership and Capacity Building
We offer training and development programs that equip youth with the skills and knowledge necessary to lead peace and security initiatives. Our workshops, seminars, and online courses cover areas such as conflict resolution, mediation, negotiation, and leadership.
Workshops and Seminars: Interactive sessions that provide practical skills in peacebuilding and conflict management.
Online Courses: Accessible, self-paced learning modules on various aspects of the YPS agenda.
Leadership Programs: Intensive programs designed to train young leaders in the peace and security sector.
Youth Municipal Councils
In 2019, we called upon youth from diverse backgrounds to integrate a Youth Council. This call brought together 12 young people from the Miguel Hidalgo municipality in Mexico City, who began to propose, assess, and dialogue with the municipality to improve their communities.
The Youth Council is an innovative mechanism for municipal citizen participation. This space allows youth to gather in community centers to debate and collaborate on the formulation and evaluation of government actions and public policies in their municipality. To date, we have facilitated the creation of 15 youth councils across the country.
2. Human Rights Advocacy and Youth-Centered Awareness
We work to amplify youth voices in political dialogues and decision-making spaces. Our advocacy efforts focus on integrating the youth, peace, and security agenda into national and international policies.
Awareness Campaigns: Public campaigns to highlight the importance of youth participation in peacebuilding.
3. Youth-Led Projects
We support youth-led initiatives that contribute to peace and security in their communities. These projects range from local peacebuilding activities to regional collaborations.
Grant Programs: Providing financial support for innovative peace projects led by youth.
Mentorship: Connecting young peacebuilders with mentors and experts for guidance and support.
Fund4Participation is an initiative that promotes the participation of key populations ininternational decision-making by providing a dynamic fundraising platform to cover accommodation and living expenses for women, youth, and other populations wishing to participate in international forums to present their work. We assist with everything from accreditation to connecting with key stakeholders.
4. Social Research for Political Advocacy
We conduct and support research to build a solid evidence base on the role of youth in peace and security. This includes documenting best practices, case studies, and the impact of youth-led initiatives.
Publications: Producing reports, articles, and policy briefs on the youth, peace, and security agenda.
Research Collaborations: Partnering with academic institutions and research organizations to explore new insights.
5. Global and Regional Platforms
We drive opportunities for youth to connect, share experiences, and collaborate on peace and security issues.
Conferences and Forums: Organizing events that bring together young leaders from around the world to discuss and promote the YPS agenda.
Networking Opportunities: Facilitating connections between youth organizations, activists, and peacebuilders.
