Partnerships and Institutional Strengthening

Building Alliances for Impact

At Agora, we believe that meaningful change happens through collaboration, solidarity, and shared capacity. Our partnerships reflect a deep commitment to strengthening institutions, empowering youth and civil society, and aligning local advocacy with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Through our engagement with global networks, grassroots organizations, and multilateral institutions, we work to create an ecosystem of actors capable of advancing peace, human rights, harm reduction, and sustainable development across regions.

Strengthening Networks and Shared Capacities

Agora partners with a wide range of networks and organizations to build advocacy skills, enhance institutional resilience, and facilitate engagement with decision-making spaces at the national, regional, and international levels.

Our approach to institutional strengthening includes:

  • Providing capacity-building workshops on advocacy, SDG alignment, and multilateral engagement;

  • Supporting youth and civil society organizations in developing strategic plans and funding proposals;

  • Facilitating access to UN mechanisms, global forums, and policy processes;

  • Promoting cross-regional cooperation and peer-to-peer learning among partners.

Our Key Partnerships

Major Group for Children and Youth (MGCY)

We collaborate closely with the UN Major Group for Children and Youth, the official space for youth engagement in UN processes, to ensure that young voices are represented in discussions on sustainable development, disarmament, drug policy reform, and peacebuilding.

Through MGCY, Agora contributes to consultations, position papers, and youth-led advocacy initiatives connected to the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF), the Summit of the Future, and UN Environment Assembly processes.

YOUNGO – UNFCCC Youth Constituency

In partnership with YOUNGO, the youth constituency of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Agora advances the intersection between climate, peace, and security.
Our collaboration supports youth participation in climate diplomacy, promotes climate resilience as a peacebuilding tool, and builds capacity for youth-led advocacy in international environmental negotiations.

Latin American Network of People Who Use Drugs (LANPUD)

Together with LANPUD, Agora strengthens the leadership and advocacy capacity of people who use drugs across Latin America.
We co-develop strategies to integrate human rights, harm reduction, and gender perspectives into regional policy dialogues and UN processes, ensuring that affected communities are represented in drug policy reform.

Global Coalition of Youth, Peace and Security (GCYPS)

As part of the GCYPS, Agora contributes to global advocacy around the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) agenda.

We engage in coalition efforts to advance the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2250, organize consultations with young peacebuilders, and promote youth inclusion in conflict prevention and peacebuilding processes.

International Youth Coalition (IYC)

Agora collaborates with the International Youth Coalition to promote youth leadership and civic engagement in global governance.
Together, we work to connect youth-led organizations with UN agencies, diplomatic missions, and international financial institutions, strengthening their participation in key global policy processes and forums.

Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP)

Through our partnership with SSDP, the world’s largest youth network for drug policy reform, Agora supports joint advocacy efforts at the United Nations, the Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND), and national legislative processes.

We work alongside SSDP to train advocates, develop policy tools, and mobilize youth participation in campaigns for decriminalization, harm reduction, and evidence-based approaches to substance use.

Working with the United Nations and Member States

Agora also engages directly with UN agencies, missions, and Member States, fostering multilateral partnerships that strengthen cooperation between governments and civil society.

We provide technical expertise, organize side events, and co-create policy dialogues that connect grassroots realities with global commitments — from drug policy and human rights to disarmament and sustainable development.

Our collaborations have contributed to:

  • The operationalization of the UN Common Position on Drug Policy;

  • Youth participation in the Summit of the Future and Pact for the Future consultations;

  • Multi-stakeholder engagement around the Youth, Peace, and Security and Women, Peace, and Security agendas.

A Growing Ecosystem of Change

Each partnership expands our shared impact. Together, we are creating an interconnected global community where youth organizations, civil society networks, and institutions work hand in hand to build a more peaceful, equitable, and sustainable world.
